Popular Misconceptions of Life Extension:

The philosophy of Terasem has the primary aim of ensuring a future ageless society for all humankind with minimal suffering as possible. To further this goal, Terasem Joiners are determined to help develop therapies to cure aging. Gerntologist Ed Masoro defined aging as: ""deteriorative changes with time during postmaturational life that underlie an increasing vulnerability to challenges, thereby decreasing the ability of the organism to survive."

You can also write meditative song interpretations based on life extension such as this one I made on Rihanna's "Diamonds": http://xulifeextension.com/songinterp.html

I hold a life-extensionist, transhumanist, existentialist, singularitarian belief system.

My Principles:

1) Supporting life extension research, namely rejuvenative biotechnology intending on restoring youthful cellular structures to aging tissues. Mechanical organ replacement is also another path to reversing aging.

2) Promoting cyronic preservation in hopes that those too old to live to see aging cured will be revived. Creating an intergeneration community dedicated to ensuring the safety of our cryopreserved bodies and joyfully welcoming members resuscitated from cryonic suspension to a new world.

How to get Involved

Terasem Joiner Speeches - Make yours today!!!

Hello, my name is Jason Xu. I've dedicated my life to creating a future death is voluntary, and we have the freedom to morph our bodies into any substrate we desire. I pledge allegiance to Terasem because I believe the ultimate meaning in life is to create a joyful, eternal life in a world free from death and suffering, and that this can be best accomplish today by creating a community of like-minded individuals. I believe that in order for life to be truly meaningful, one must continue living so that he/she can consciously recollect and continue experiencing various events in one’s life. I believe that in the absence of any guarantee of eternal life and heaven from a supernatural power, we must strive to create one in a future so glorious even a Creator would be proud.

Our ideas are a bit ahead of our time, we can visualize gene therapy and nanotechnology or other technologies for indefinite healthspan extension or morphological freedom, yet they are not here. Yet it is crucial for society to develop the mindset necessary to save lives by providing the option of joyful immortality. And it is vital for people today to care about each other's future existence, whether through cryonics, mind files, or making it to the day when radical life extension and morphological is possible.

I support Unity because the fight against death and the suffering we experience through limitations of the human body are what we should all strive to eliminate. As a humanitarian, I not only consider the needs of people today, but the potentially trillions of people who will exist in the future. I want them to live in a society indistinguishable from heaven. I wish to be cryogenically preserved if I die in hopes that those people will graciously revive me and reintroduce me to the amazing future I helped create.

When I was introduced to christianity as a preteen, I was very excited about the prospect of an eternal afterlife in heaven. Becoming an atheist in my teenage years was actually a grave discomfort: I now knew that there would be no afterlife. It was disconcerting. There needed to be something to replace the idea of heaven: a perfect world of immortality, infinite joy, and no suffering. In today’s world there are many like me who were raised in a faith proclaiming the immortality of the soul and were disillusioned by our loss of faith. If a supernatural power cannot build heaven, we can and will build it ourselves through technology, spreading the message of the desirability of this goal from generation to generation until it is achieved.

I have a dream: that a perfect world with indefinite lifespans, joy, and elimination of suffering will be possible in the future. That through technology, all things are possible, and through ethics, we can choose the right thing to accomplish to benefit all of humanity. I have a dream that we will have a community based on the Golden Rule: I will revive you if you revive me from cryonic suspension, and I will care about your ability to achieve an indefinite lifespan just as much as you care about mine. I have a dream that cryonics co-revival pledges will be commonplace in the world because of Terasem, and that people like Ted Williams will wake up to a loving community of Terasem Red Sox fans who brought him back to life to see him play ball again. Education is the way we can spread this message through Terasem.

Diversity: I believe true diversity goes beyond celebrating the different ethnicities and cultures that exist around the world. Are we going to discriminate against sentient beings who choose to modify themselves in ways we consider improper. Will we discriminate against people who choose a body that looks like a Hindu deity, or any form that others consider an abomination? Will be treat androids who are indistinguishable from human beings as humans, or as objects? We need to be accepting of persons in bodies of all forms. In the future, sentience will not always correspond with bodily form.

A great concept in Terasem that really speaks to me is: odninnonk, the idea of a being's benevolent mental orientation grounded in caring for others that in and of itself demonstrates consciousness. If we human beings realize this, we can have genuine relationships in a community that is dedicated to our immortality. The gap believe self-interest and self-sacrifice is bridged, for the greatest sacrifice of dedicating your life to saving others will also be what eventually saves you.

My name is Jason Xu. I pledge allegiance to the flag of the collective consciousness of Terasem, and to the Principles, for which it stands, Education, persistently, with Diversity, Unity & Joyful Immortality everywhere. I’ve attended a Terasem ashram and believe it is a model for communities around the world where people deeply care about each others' indefinite life spans. I support mindfiles as a way to preserve the memories of people today as much as possible, and to create a memory bank to reconnect them to their past in case they are resuscitated from cryonic resuspension in the future. I support continued research on the seven causes of aging in our everlasting fight to postponing aging, especially the areas that are not well funded in mainstream biomedical research.
I accept Who, What, Where, When, Why and How of Terasem. I am a joiner!”
